Tricks and Treats, A Brussels Griffon Meet up

Hello NYCGriffs Crew!

We’re just days away from the Brussels Griffon Halloween Meet-Up and Costume Contest! With over 50 Griffs confirmed, we’re excited for a day filled with spooky fun, costumes, and off-leash play! Below are all the final details you’ll need to ensure you and your pup have a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Event Details:

  • Date: Sunday, October 13th

  • Time: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM (We kindly ask that you arrive no earlier than 2:00 PM)

  • Location: Zoom Room Dog Training Chelsea (159 W 25th St, New York, NY 10001)

Costume Contest Categories:

  • Beastworthy Award: Best animal-themed costume

  • Best Furiends Award: Best group/duo costume

  • Bone Appétit Award: Best food-themed costume

  • I Woof NYC Award: Best NYC-themed costume

  • Pawtastic Award: Best all-around costume

  • Pup Culture Award: Best current event/TV/film/music/celebrity-themed costume

  • Vanity Fur Award: Most glamorous/over-the-top costume

If you'd like to enter the contest, be sure to submit your Costume Contest Form by Saturday, October 12th, 12:00 PM and include a photo of your pup in costume! This will help us identify them during the contest. To stay organized and ensure you're on the ballot, kindly refrain from emailing, texting, or DMing your photos—please submit them directly through the form.

Vaccination Requirements:

Please ensure your dog's vaccinations (Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella) are up to date. Submit proof to chelsea@zoomroom.com or bring printed records with you to the event. Vaccination proof is mandatory for entry.

Voting Process:

Voting will begin at 3:15 PM, and winners will be announced at 3:45 PM! If your pup wins in more than one category, we’ll pass the prize to the runner-up to keep things fun and fair. Voting will be available via a shared Google form, with a QR code for easy access at the event.

Special Event Details:

  • Photographer: Carmen from NYC Pet Pawtographer will be roaming the party capturing candid shots. We’ll also have multiple photo moments, so make sure to grab your pup for some great pictures!

  • Instagram Tags: Don’t forget to take your own photos and tag @NYCGriffs on Instagram—we’ll be reposting and sharing your moments on our stories!

  • Live Stream Host: The fabulous Jolie Dudley from Must Love Dogs and Comedy will be hosting the live stream and MCing the dog costume contest.

Before You Go/FAQ:

  • What should I bring?
    Your pup in costume! Don’t forget the vaccination records if you haven’t emailed them already. Light refreshments will be provided for both humans and pups, but feel free to bring anything your dog might need for comfort.

  • Can I get a refund if I can’t attend?
    Yes, you can request a refund through Eventbrite within the next 24 hours if you’re unable to provide the required vaccination proof. Unfortunately, after 24 hours, due to upfront costs for the event, we will be unable to issue refunds for any reason, and your payment will be considered a donation. We appreciate your understanding!

  • Will there be professional photos?
    Yes! Carmen will be capturing all the adorable moments. Plus, you’re welcome to snap your own pics and tag us on Instagram for reposts.

  • What’s the parking situation?
    Street parking is available around the venue, but public transportation or rideshare is recommended due to limited parking.

  • How do I participate remotely?
    We will be live streaming the event! Feel free to have friends join the fun from home!

More about us: NYCGriffs is not a for-profit venture—it’s a community of Brussels Griffon enthusiasts who pool their resources together (a huge thank you to all of you—this wouldn’t be possible without your trust and support!), all in the name of building community. Our events are a labor of love and don’t break even, every dollar we raise and more goes into the event. While we do have some volunteers, the cost of your ticket goes towards securing the private event space, hiring a photographer, providing entertainment, decorations, and food and beverages.

On top of this, the party organizers have made a separate $250 donation to Brussels Griffon Rescue, so we can party for a good cause and give back to the Griff community.

We can’t wait to see everyone’s creativity and the amazing costumes! This is going to be a Halloween party to remember!
